The "400" State Trail

The “400” State Trail was named for the Chicago and Northwestern passenger train which traveled the 400 miles from Chicago to Minneapolis in 400 minutes.  The Baraboo River parallels or crosses the entire twenty two miles of the smooth packed crushed limestone trail.  Wetlands, covered sandstone bluffs, rolling crop lands and pastures are features of this scenic uncrowded trail.

Trail Fees Are Required
Trail passes are required for bikers 16 years of age and older.  A daily trail pass is $5.00 and an annual pass is $25.00.  These passes are good on any Wisconsin State Trail.  Trail passes are available for purchase at The Elroy Commons.
